The CROUS manages student accommodation. University accommodations is allocated by a joint committee according to a number of social criteria (income, etc.). The CROUS lists three types of rental accommodation: |

To apply for a place in university accommodation, you must complete a Dossier Social Etudiant (DES).
Students in the Rennes education authority must submit their applications at des.orion.education.fr (between 15 January and 30 April).

Both social housing benefit (l’allocation logement à caractère social, or ALS) and personal housing benefit (l’aide personnalisée au logement, or APL) are assigned by the Family Allowances Fund (Caisse d’Allocations Familiales, or CAF). These grants may not be cumulated.
The form for requesting ALS or APL can be downloaded from www.caf.fr.N.B. if you are under 20 years old, your parents may receive family housing benefits.
Be aware that if you apply for housing benefit, the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales will consider that you are no longer your parents’ responsibility and the benefits your parents receive may decrease considerably.Loca-Pass: Collector organisations of 1% accommodation provide financial assistance in renting accommodation free of charge to young people (under 30 years of age) and non-agricultural private-sector employees.
